The fundamental purpose of YMOE/YWOE Initiative and Curriculum is to increase the overall achievement rates of minority male and female students in Seminole County Public Schools. Participants meet regularly as an elective course toward graduation. Alternative off-site
enhancement activities are scheduled to provide additional learning experiences for the participants.

• Create conditions that will encourage and stimulate learning
• Assist students in development of their own initiative and ability to think
• Encourage them to make critical decisions for their lives
• Develop and nurture responsible and productive individuals who can contribute to building their community
• Develop and foster positive relationships through the mentoring process
• Develop culturally relevant learning opportunities
• Increase the graduation rate of males and females in Seminole County Public Schools
• Increase Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Testing (ACT) scores
• Increase academic performance that includes dual enrollment and advance course placement
• Increase resources and services for students, families and communities
